About my Handmade Wood Pens

All pens have refills which are commercially available from most high street stationers or online.

My handmade wood pens are an ideal Christmas gift or birthday present. All pens come in an attractive velvet box, ready for presentation to that special person!

What Makes My Handmade Pens Special?

When I am making your wooden pen it's not "just another pen". It is something that is often bought as a gift for a loved one, they will hold it, look at it and use it every day! So I have to be happy when it leaves my workshop that it feels right, that it looks right, that it will be a pleasure to use every day and that it will last!

The Technical Bit:

Your handmade gift is going to be used every day - so I will never use a finish that doesn't last; I only use melamine or acrylic gloss to produce a really hard wearing finish, on top of that I use a special microcrystalline wax (the same one the National Trust use in their properties), this protects the finish and gives a resistance to the oils and acids that are naturally found in your skin.

A pair of quality handmade pens ideal for a wedding gift

For me to be happy with your wood pen I don't just stop sanding at 400 grit (as many turners do) I sand the pens down to 12,000 grit - that is the same grade that optical glasses are polished with! So your handmade pens really do have a "mirror finish"!

Your handmade pen can be made from any of the following:

An Indigenous hardwood like Oak, Ash, Laburnam, etc, I am even happy to make pens from branches of your favourite garden shrub!

An Exotic hardwood like Mahogany

A stabilised Hardwood - such as the stunning Buckeye Burr pen below.

A Range of Acrylics such as the Yellow Swirl pen below.
